Backyard weddings are in. Check out these dos and don’ts for the perfect intimate nuptials.
Just because you’re having a backyard wedding doesn’t mean it can’t be magical, romantic, or everything you’ve ever dreamed.
Follow these dos and don’ts for the best intimate backyard wedding.
Do Work With a Wide Range of Vendors
You already save a lot of money since you are sticking to a backyard wedding, so that means you have a little wiggle room for hiring different vendors. Look for catering, dance floors, music, and more, to bring in all the little details.
Don’t Forget to Rent Bathrooms
While it may seem like a great idea to let your guests use your restrooms, we highly recommend renting a few portable bathrooms. If you let your wedding guests use your bathroom, who knows what can happen — messes, clogged toilets, or even worse – flooding. Let’s not ruin your perfect day and home. Instead, rent the porta-potties. Don’t forget the toilet paper, paper towels, and hand soap.
Do Consider Your Space
No one knows your home better than yourself. When planning an intimate backyard wedding, one of the main things you need to think about is the amount of space you have. Take into consideration the ceremony space and seating, your reception space, and your dance floor. Before setting up everything and sending invites, you need to measure the area you have outside and calculate how everything will fit.
Don’t Forget a Backup Plan
Things can go wrong, especially since the pandemic is still around. One of your vendors can cancel due to illness, there may be bad weather, and other unforeseen events can happen. Just because something doesn't go your way doesn’t mean your big day is ruined. Instead, take a deep breath, and follow your backup plan. We recommend having a backup for each vendor if the weather turns sour.
Do Think of All the Logistics
Planning a wedding and hosting it at your home comes with a lot of logistics. And, it is important to think of all of them before your big day. Besides having your backup plan, you need to think of all the other things that go into a wedding. Have you found all your vendors? Do you have a minister? Do you have enough space for your guests? Do you have enough parking? Check out a wedding planner guide for more logistics that you can follow.
Don’t Forget to Have Fun
At the end of the day, it is your wedding, so have fun! Forget about all the stress and hard work that went into planning and setting up. Instead, focus on the fact that you are getting married to the love of your life. Once everything is said and done, you have each other to reminisce on all the wonderful yet crazy memories of your wedding day.
