4 Foods to Improve Vaginal Health
Some of you might be surprised! But there's foods for vaginal health and ph balance recovering!
You may know of good foods for your overall health, but what about foods for vaginal health?
This may come as a shock, but the types of foods we eat can seriously help keep your vagina in top shape by easing cramps, balancing your pH, and even fighting infections.
You’ve probably heard about your vagina having a pH level. Well, did you know it’s an acidic one? It’s between 3.5 to 4.5 on a scale of 0 to 14, and everything can change your levels, from exercise to sex to even stress.
However, if you’re eating the right foods and keeping it healthy, it should be able to balance it all on its own.
1. Plain Yogurt
Yogurt is a probiotic. This means it has live cultures in it, one commonly known as Lactobacillus acidophilus. This bacteria can help keep the pH levels of your vagina in the acidic range, reducing risks of yeast or other infections.
2. Cranberry Juice
We all know that cranberry is used to help prevent and treat UTIs. This is because there is a particular ingredient in cranberry that can make the bladder “slipper,” causing it to be more resilient to bacteria. However, it would help if you stuck to pure, concentrated cranberry juice or even cranberry pills. If you opt to drink the cocktails, you won’t have a very effective result.
3. Water
This almost seems like a given, but some people don’t know how much water can benefit your vaginal health. Just like how not drinking enough water can make your face or hands feel thirsty, being dehydrated can make the skin of your vulva dry and itchy, and no one wants that.
4. Soy
Soy has isoflavones that mimic estrogen. Studies suggest that getting isoflavones from tofu or edamame can have a similar effect on your body the way estrogen does. This can help alleviate vaginal dryness caused by hormonal changes.
Vaginal health is critical because we all know how incredibly uncomfortable it is to issue down there. The area is susceptible to change and makes it evident by throwing a tantrum when something is out of balance. Help everything stay on track by making sure you consume these foods, and you’ll be keeping everything in tip-top shape.
