Stay cool this summer with these DIY healthy frozen popsicles.
While many popsicles are packed with sugar and artificial dyes, we want you to enjoy a healthy alternative. We’ve got all the details you need to perfect this summer favorite, from molds to recipes!
Mold
There are many different popsicle molds to choose from. A DIY method that many of us are familiar with is a plastic cup and popsicle stick. You can easily find a variety of plastic and silicone molds in-store or online. We recommend silicone molds because they’re easy to remove and clean.
Flavor
When making fruit popsicles, stick with ripe or slightly overripe fruit. At this stage, it’s typically at its sweetest form — and placing anything in the freezer will dampen its taste. If you want to add more sweetness, we recommend including honey, agave nectar, maple syrup, or organic sugar.
Freeze
Your freezing time varies between each popsicle, depending on the ingredients used. Typically, it takes popsicles about four to six hours to harden. However, for the best results, we recommend freezing overnight.
Once it’s solid, you can take one out of its mold. Some molds are easier to use than others. If you are having issues removing the popsicle, run the mold under warm water for a few seconds.
