Feeling good about yourself can seem nearly impossible in today’s world. The Internet, television, films, magazines, all these mediums tell us how we ought to look. Men should have flawless six-pack abs, and women should have perfect round booties. You look at them, and then you look at yourself in the mirror, and you can’t help but feel depressed. You end up questioning why you can’t look like that. Not good. It may seem like a losing battle, but you can best this feeling. Here’s how to boost your body image and self-confidence.
STOP COMPARING YOURSELF TO OTHERS
The biggest step to help you with this is to distance yourself from social media and the internet as much as possible. Doing so will help you focus on what makes you unique.
SURROUND YOURSELF WITH PEOPLE WHO SUPPORT YOU
If you have any people in your life who aren’t helping, or worse, who are making you feel bad with the way you look, get rid of them. Instead, surround yourself with people who make you feel good about yourself, support you, and make an effort to understand and listen to what you have to say.
GET BUSY
If you’re still struggling with the way you look, try finding something to busy yourself with. It can be anything you want to expand on, an activity, a hobby, a skill, or a cause. If you want to help with some sort of charitable non-profit work, go for it. You’ll be able to help others in need, raise your own spirit, and in time, feel comfortable in your own skin.
It’s not an easy battle, and it will take some time, but doing these three things will help boost your body image and self-confidence.
