The trend of heavy makeup, such as contouring and baking, is starting to fade, and dewy, minimalistic makeup is on the rise. With a minimalist, or no, makeup, skin healthy plays a vital role. You’re not wearing much makeup, so your natural skin shines through.
If you have never had a skincare routine before and don’t know where to start, that’s okay! Skin care does not have to be so complicated. It’s 2019, let’s get you a skin care routine that works for you.
First things first...sunblock!
Whether you wash your face or not, you need to apply sunscreen. Without sunscreen on your face, your skin will develop premature wrinkles and possible skin spots from the sun’s harmful rays. Get in the habit of at least rinsing your face off with water and applying some on your face. You’ll find your skin thanking you in no time.
Get to know your skin type.
Do you have oily skin and prone to breakouts? Is your skin more on the dryer side and requires extra hydration? Is your skin a combination of both? These are the questions you must consider before buying a fash wash and face lotion. There are a variety of products, and you need to find which one would be best for your skin. If you have naturally oily skin, you should look into purchasing face wash/lotion that removes excess oil. But, if you have dry skin, you must stay away from those products because they will dry your skin out even more. You know your skin better than anyone, do a quick analysis of your face, and decide from there.
Invest in a toner.
Not everyone uses a toner, but I believe they’re needed for healthy, clear skin. After washing your face, apply toner on a cotton ball, and gently rub it into your face. You’ll most likely see dirt residue on the cotton ball. That’s because toner removes the excess dirt that your face wash might have left behind. It also removes dead skins cells, and the hard to reach dirt in your pores.
Be sure to change your pillowcases!
You use your pillows EVERY night. Be sure to change your pillowcase every now and then for healthy skin.
