Simple Ways You Can do a Spring Refresh Without Leaving the House
Spring cleaning doesn't need to involve leaving the house — you probably already have everything you need at home. Here's how to do a spring refresh!
The weather is warmer and the sun is shining, time for a spring refresh!
It’s finally time to remove those heavy blankets, put away your sweaters, and get ready to enjoy some long, sunny days. This past winter and spring have been particularly bleak for most of us. It’s no secret we’re all welcoming summer with open arms and a hopeful heart.
One of our favorite parts about the warmer seasons is being able to spring refresh the house with new decor, flowers, and bring the light back in. Since we’re all at various stages of social distancing, we may not be able to even stop by Target to buy the newest decor we've been eyeing. Don’t worry, there are still ways you can refresh your home for the new season without even having to leave your house (we could always order everything online).
Change out Your Pillows and Throw Blankets
Sometimes even the simplest of changes can make a huge difference in your house. Switching out your darker throw pillows and blankets for brighter colors and patterns can instantly transform any space. Put away the chunky fleece blankets and bring out those lighter throws that’ll keep the space inviting, but without the heaviness of the cold seasons.
Change the Sheets
Obviously, you should change your sheets more often than seasonally, but specifically changing your sheets for some crisp clean white ones when the warmer weather hits really makes a huge difference. If you have a duvet that’s a dark color for the colder months, switch it into something light and airy to give a more ethereal vibe to your bedroom.
Rearrange a Room
One of the easiest ways to feel like you have a completely new space is to rearrange a room. Moving the furniture around is almost like resetting a space and bringing new life into it. The excitement you feel when it looks like an entirely different space is worth the little bit of effort. If you’re not up for a total room rearranging, simply switching rugs from different rooms or moving decor around can make a difference.
“Marie Kondo” a Space in Your House
Spring cleaning can definitely be a daunting task for most of us, and with everything else going on, you may have not even gotten to it yet. It's not too late!
A great way to get started is by tackling a smaller spot and working your way around the house. Decluttering after a long winter-turned-into-spring-quarantine is another great way to feel like you’ve brought some freshness back into the room. It can be as simple as decluttering one shelf in the living room or an entire closet makeover. Each little task you complete when decluttering will bring you a sense of ease and comfort we know you need for this new season.
Add Some Fresh Flowers
Obviously adding flowers into your home in the spring and summer months is not a groundbreaking tip, but it's a really great way to refresh your space with little to no effort. If you’ve got a beautiful wildflower patch growing outside, pick some of those babies and bring them inside. Bringing the foliage from outside inside your house really adds a layer of color and life to your home without having to actually purchase anything. If you don’t have a flower patch you can snip a few flowers from, get creative by grabbing greenery instead. Who said a bouquet has to contain only flowers?
Being able to spring refresh our homes after a cold winter or indoor hibernation (or quarantine!) is one of the best parts of spring and summer. Even if you’re stuck at home, there are still ways you can do this. Finding the beauty in simplicity during these times is what we’re striving for, and these easy tips will transform any space.
