DIY Makeup Remover That Holds up Against Brand Names

DIY Makeup Remover That Holds up Against Brand Names

Once the night it is over and it's time to strip our makeup, nothing feels better than removing it with some of your own DIY makeup remover.

Having a DIY makeup remover available at home can really come in handy.

Completing your look is a process; there’s choosing eyeshadows that will complement your clothes, selecting a foundation that will even out your complexion, and even choosing the right lipstick for an occasion, are all part of the ensemble.

Once that face is beat, you're feeling yourself, you are confident, happy, and ready to conquer the world, amirite?! You know you're not going to have to fuss with your makeup because you've made sure that foundation is going nowhere, period!

The day is done; you're home, tired, and ready to take off all of that makeup. So, naturally, go to your bathroom and take out the pretty expensive makeup wipes you bought from MAC Cosmetics. Let's face it-they're not cheap. You pay $30 for 100 wipes, that's $120 a year just on makeup wipes. That's assuming you only use one a day, but if you wear a lot of makeup, you might use 2 in one wipe-off session.

What if you could make your own makeup remover at a fraction of the cost? I went hunting on Pinterest for the best DIY makeup removers and found reliable recipes that hit it out of the park. These ingredients are safe, inexpensive, and easy to find.

The Best part is that they work and are sustainable. The only downside is that you need to make them in small batches because there are no preservatives.

oil

One Crazy Mom

Here's a makeup remover that can be used as part of a double-cleanse routine. You'll need:

  • 1/2 cup coconut oil

  • 1 tbsp vitamin E oil

  • 5 drops therapeutic grade lavender essential oil

Melt the coconut oil in the microwave for 40 seconds and mix the rest of the ingredients in a mason jar,let it sit in the fridge for 30 minutes. Now you have a makeup remover that will dissolve your makeup, allowing your cleanser to wash away the makeup.

eco

Eco Living Mama

This recipe is excellent if you don't like the feeling of oil on your face. It's also soothing and moisturizing. You'll need:

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tbsp witch hazel

  • 1 tbsp natural aloe vera gel

  • 5 drops vitamin E

Make small batches of this makeup remover to ensure freshness. Shake well before using.

lavender

An Uncomplicated Life

If you still enjoy makeup wipes or would like to incorporate them in your double-cleanse routine, here's a recipe that's been proven to work. You'll need:

  • 1/2 cup grapeseed oil

  • 3 tbsp lavender witch hazel

  • 5 drops frankincense essential oil

  • cotton rounds

  • glass mason jar

Place the cotton rounds in the jar and pour the mixed ingredients. Let the rounds soak all of the liquid before using.

These 3 DIY makeup removers are just as good as store-bought products. Plus, they’re cost effective and better for the environment, since you’ll be reusing your mason jar to make more.

You only need to spend a few minutes mixing the ingredients, to get a product that doesn't have additional i preservatives and fragrances which aren't great for your skin.
