Manicures: The Red Polish You Need to Try This Season
From tomato to poppy, we can show you the best red polish to try this season.
Red polish tones are always a good idea!
When I was younger, I owned at least 100 bottles of nail polish that ranged from light to dark, sheer to creamy, bright to subdued red polishes. The problem with this was that I never wore all the colors and my polishes dried out.
As I got older and figured out what I liked, I stuck to classic colors that would work all year round. Red polish is one of them. There are so many shades of red polish to choose from that will be on-trend for every season and occasion.
With social distancing measures still in place, I had to take my manis in-house and do them myself since I didn’t want to risk catching COVID-19, nor would I want to put someone else at risk for the same reason.
Brights
This bright and beautiful red was the color from OPI called Cajun Shrimp is a keeper. I wore during the summer months. It made my hands stand out and call attention to my nails. This color is great for spring and summer months because it's such a happy color that has a slight pink undertone to it.
If you prefer reds that skew on the orange side, check out Orly’s Life’s a Beach. It’s a great color for those that have a yellow undertone. If reds intimidate you, instead of wearing the lacquer on your fingers, opt to wear them on your toes. A fresh pedicure with this color would look great with a pair of sandals.
Classics
You can never go wrong with a classic red polish. It goes with everything and you can wear this color in all seasons. So if you don’t know what red to wear, start with this color because you can’t go wrong. One of my favorite brands, Essie, carries the perfect classic red called Forever Yummy. The name is fitting and it should be a staple in your medicine cabinet, or wherever you store your nail polishes.
Deep reds
Since we’re in winter and you want to wear something for this colder season, you can look into getting deeper, darker shades of red. These vampy hues are great for fall and winter. They’re sophisticated and bold.
A crimson red still veers on classic with a hint of daring. This hue by Dermelect Cosmeceuticals called Me Blue Blood is perfection.
Regardless of the shade you choose, you can’t go wrong with red polish. This hot color never goes out of style. Pick a color that will make you feel confident and one that you’ll reach for over and over!
