Applying to dry skin
One of the most frequent errors people make when applying their hyaluronic acid is to apply it to dry skin. But the whole point of hyaluronic acid is to boost my skin’s moisture levels, no? Correct. However, hyaluronic acid is what’s known as a “humectant.”
What this means in simple terms, is that it draws moisture from where it can. If there is no moisture for it to draw from, it will draw from your face, making your skin more parched than it was to begin with. The fix? Apply your hyaluronic acid to slightly damp skin, or use a facial mist first, and be amazed at how plumped your complexion is the next morning. Trust us!
Not using a moisturiser
Again, a lot of us tend to think that hyaluronic acid is a well-known, highly moisturizing ingredient and that as such, you don’t need to apply a moisturizer alongside it. On the contrary, adding a moisturizer or using a moisturizer that is formulated with hyaluronic acid is actually an excellent way of improving its overall efficiency. The emollient in the moisturizer will act to seal everything in and lock that moisture firmly in place. Give it a go and see the difference!
