The Dos and Don’ts to Cyber Monday 2021
Cyber Monday 2021 can go really well or really poorly. Make sure it's a positive experience with our guide to Cyber Monday dos and don'ts.
Don’t break the bank while checking off your Cyber Monday 2021 shopping list.
Hate the chaos of Black Friday? Or maybe you can’t physically go to a store. That’s why Cyber Monday is here! This year, about 61% of shoppers plan on participating in the online deals and savings. Thousands of shoppers and hackers are roaming the internet just like you. Don’t jump in unprepared — check out these dos and don’ts to Cyber Monday 2021.
Here are two things to do and two things to avoid this year.
Do plan ahead
Just like Black Friday, you need to create a shopping strategy. Decide which stores you want to shop from, choose who you’re shopping for, determine how much you want to spend, discover store deals and coupons, and figure out when specific offers are happening. You don’t want to be running around like a chicken with its head cut off — or worse, miss out on an amazing deal. With a solid game plan, your online shopping will be a breeze.
Don’t forget to budget
Thousands of deals may seem like an opportunity you can’t miss, but overspending is a big issue for many shoppers. Before you know it, you’ve spent hundreds or even thousands of dollars in minutes. To avoid losing all your money, take a step back and calculate a budget. Once you figure out your budget, you’ll have an easier time making your list.
Do look at coupons
The whole point of Cyber Monday is to save as much money as possible. While many stores have heavy discounts and doorbusters, you can save even more if you check out their coupons. However, before adding these promos, make sure to read all the disclaimers. In many cases, items that have specific discounts, like doorbusters or clearances, are not eligible for additional savings. Worried that you’re not as tech-savvy as the next person? Don’t worry — skip the step of searching by downloading the Honey app extension! Honey collects thousands of promo codes from different stores and automatically inputs them into your cart. It truly can’t get any easier than that!
Don’t visit unsecure or untrustworthy sites
One of the most common mistakes shoppers make on Cyber Monday is shopping at unsecure or untrustworthy sites. While many of these stores may seem fine at first glance, they can be surrounded by hackers and scammers trying to steal your personal information. To see if a website is secure, check if the website URL starts with “HTTPS”. If so, shop on! You can also download a VPN for extra protection.
