Hacks to Maintain a Winter Tan
Want to maintain your summer glow this winter? If so, read these quick tips on maintaining a winter tan.
But what about that tan you spent all summer working on? Is that just supposed to wash away with the rest of our summer fun? No! A winter tan is possible.
Keeping that summer glow alive may feel challenging, but with a little persistence your skin can still burn bright with a winter tan.
Here are a few tips and tricks that may help!
Stay moisturized
We all know it’s important to keep your skin hydrated, but did you know dehydrated skin sheds more? If you want to keep up that summer glow, you must stop your skin from shedding. During winter, the dry, cold air and temperatures can dry out and damage your skin. Skin is your body’s largest organ, so it’s important to keep it properly hydrated!
Exfoliate less
While it’s important to exfoliate some, it can also disturb your skin when done too often. It’s best to cut down on your exfoliation practices so your skin can stay as tanned as possible.
Apply bronzing lotion
Applying a bronzing or tanning lotion a few times per week can give your skin a naturally healthy tan. But be careful not to apply too much, as this could create visible streaks or cause the excess to rub off.
Take cold showers
Long, hot showers and baths can dry out your skin. Keep your showers cool and apply moisturizer as soon as your skin dries!
Stay hydrated
Since the key to maintaining a tan is hydration, it’s important to keep your body hydrated. So, drink water whenever you feel thirsty. Dry skin takes away your tan!
Eat healthy foods
A healthy diet leads to healthy skin. Foods that are rich in beta carotene are recommended for maintaining a tan. These foods include spinach, carrots, and kale, amongst others! Supplements and foods that carry antioxidants will help keep your skin looking healthy and your winter tan glowing.
