The Most Iconic Looks From Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week 2022
Looking for outfit inspiration? Here are the most jaw-dropping looks from Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week 2022.
After two long years, the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week is back in full glitz and glam.
Here are some of the most iconic and heavy hitting looks from July 4-7.
The Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week was put on hold due to the global pandemic. Two years of small-scale events and virtual presentations later, the runway has opened up with a bang. The week consisted of industry leaders such as Chanel and Dior, alongside eccentric newcomers like Balenciaga and Maison Margiela. Here are some of the most iconic looks.
Balenciaga
Demna Gvasalia shook up the runway and unveiled his second-ever couture collection, which combines pop culture, celebrity influence, and dystopian themes to create a futuristic aesthetic. Demna utilized futuristic silhouettes, skin-tight suits, and models with faces covered by all-black face shields.
Kim Kardashian made her first-ever catwalk appearance, with her mother and daughter supporting her from the row. Nicole Kidman, Christine Quinn, and singer Dua Lipa also got their time in the limelight, walking for the collection.
Maison Margiela
The Creative director John Galliano and the team at Maison Margiela brought drama, theatrics, and a bit of whimsy to the Artisanal collection. The collection consisted of gothic influences with inspiration from the Arizona desert. Spectral cowboys and themes of power, abuse, and drugs intertwined to create a collection that’s hard to forget.
Iris van Herpen
Look no further than the Dutch designer Iris van Herpen if you want fashion-forward and futuristic designs. Her 2022 collection marks the 15th anniversary of the brand and takes inspiration from the metaverse, posthumanism, and hyperreality.
Van Herpen developed complex pieces that blended hand-crafted techniques with 3-D printed panels and sustainable materials. Her opening look featured biodegradable material made from banana leaf, while the model walked on 3-D printed fibers made from the shells of cocoa beans. Iris van Herpen took us to the limits of fashion and continues to tread beyond them.
Charles de Vilmorin
Charles de Vilmorin brought us his fourth couture collection, titled “Alienic.” Although smaller than the other collections, Vilmorin didn’t miss a beat. The collection had a unique appeal with billowing pants and gowns. The pieces featured Vilmorin’s distinctive illustrative style, including eyes, faces, and special color palettes that were brighter than life. We’re excited to see what Charles de Vilmorin brings next.
We only featured a few eccentric and iconic looks from Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week 2022, but fashion designers and brands are developing industry-breaking pieces each year.
