8 Ways to Spend Valentine’s Day When You’re Single

If you don't have a significant other, it's time to take back Valentine's Day. We've got some great ways to celebrate the holiday when you're single.

Valentine’s Day sucks. It’s no picnic when you’re in a relationship, and it’s downright awful when you’re single. Luckily, we’re here to fill your to-do list with 8 great options that don’t involve smooching your sweetie. And who knows, maybe you’ll meet your special someone while celebrating your own Anti-Valentine’s Day.

1. Anti-Valentine’s Day Party

Modeled after the movie Valentine’s Day, channel your inner Jessica Biel and throw a party! Get a heart-shaped piñata and beat the heck out of it. Invite all your girlfriends and drink endless amounts of wine while you dish about past lovers. Make your night intoxicatingly therapeutic. You’ll have the support from your other single friends, so kick back and relax without worrying about being lonely.

2. Spa Day

Treat yo self like Tom and Donna on Parks and Recreation. Schedule a relaxing and soothing spa day through the Mobile Styles app.

3. Dress to Impress

Look good, feel good. Remember, you’re not the only single person in the universe looking for love on this stupid holiday. Dress up in your favorite outfit and go shake what your mama gave ya. Just because you’re single doesn’t mean you should hide from the rest of the world this one night of the year. Head to the bar, do yoga in the park or strut to Starbucks. Attract someone who is likeminded and out there trying to meet someone. This is how love happens, people.

4. Volunteer

Being single on Valentine’s Day doesn’t mean you have to only think about yourself. If you’ve got no plans, think about giving back by helping those in need. Even without a significant other, you can still spread love through acts of kindness and compassion. Head to a local soup kitchen, senior citizen center, or a battered women’s shelter and donate your time and attention. Sharing your love with others will provide you with a comforting feeling and could brighten the day of those around you.

5. Bucket List Item

Isn’t there something you’ve always wanted to do but never had the guts to actually do?Take this Valentine’s Day to challenge yourself. Go skydiving or hike a mountain. Take that leap of faith and open yourself up to adventure. Give yourself the gift of adrenaline and accomplish a life goal. Your bucket list will thank you!

6. Hit the Gym

Let’s face it. The only people in the gym on Valentine’s Day are the single people who aren’t out gorging themselves in chocolate. This might be your place to shine. You can get fit and attract like-minded people who might be looking for something similar. Those who work out together stay together.

7. Go to a Comedy Show

Laughter is the best medicine and it might be exactly what you need. Grab a drink, head to a comedy show and spend your night laughing rather than sobbing. Plus, it’s hard to be sad when you’re in an entire room of other people laughing and enjoying themselves.Don’t be afraid of being there by yourself, everyone is paying attention to the person on stage.

8. Find the Best Singles Bar

Hop on Yelp and find the best single bars in your area. Yes, this is a real thing. Single people tend to congregate towards certain bars.
