MOBILESTYLES' 5 Tips for Starting a New Position
Congratulations! You’ve landed yourself a new job. That’s awesome! Chances are you’re extremely excited to begin this new chapter in your life.
New opportunities are always exciting, but they can also be intimidating. Here you are entering a new work environment, not knowing your coworkers or the daily routine. You want to do your best, but it’s a lot of information to grasp and you’re not quite sure what to expect.
You’re not alone. We’ve all been there when starting a new job. Here are some tips and tricks to better prepare for your new career.
Ask Questions Before Your First Day
To better understand what to expect, reach out to HR or your recruiter and ask what your first day will be like. Will you have an orientation? Will a tour of the facility be provided? Can you fill out paperwork beforehand? You may even need to know where to go on your first day. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. They’re here to help you, and it’s best to be prepared.
Introduce Yourself With Your Team
Get to know your teammates! On the first day, try to introduce yourself to your coworkers and maybe grab lunch with them. You’ll be spending a lot of time with them, so it’s important to make a great first impression.
Arrive Early on the First Day
It’s better to be early than late. This will allow yourself to relax, maybe use the restroom, gather yourself, before actually starting work. The last thing you’ll want is to be rushed and frazzled on your first day.
Find a Mentor (If Possible)
Pay attention to your coworkers. How well do they work? Do they perform better than average? If so, try to ask them for advice. You should always want to achieve more for yourself, and a mentor could get you there. See if they can teach you tips to better complete your job. It never hurts to ask for advice.
Relax, You Got This!
At the end of the day, they hired you over everyone else. They know you have what it takes to be extraordinary and to complete your job well.
