These health and fitness tips will help you reach your fitness goals!
It’s a new year, so you know what that means. Time to try your hand at that pesky weight loss goal, again. We know you may not want to hear it. We know you don't want to deal with the pressure of changing your lifestyle or have someone reminding you of what needs to be done, in order to live a healthier life. We get it. We’ve lived it. We understand. But as fitness enthusiasts, we find it is our duty to encourage you to give it another go. And this time, you’ll have us on your side to show you how to get it done!
There are 3 health and fitness tips you should remember when it comes to fitness. If you can stick to these, not only will you lose weight, you’ll also keep it off and develop a healthy new lifestyle because of it. So let’s get to it!
Take care of your mind first.
Your mindset is the one thing that can make or break your fitness efforts. If you think about it, there is no outside source that can force you to do or stop doing anything. Don’t get us wrong; you can be provoked, but with a strong mindset you can always persevere. Some of our favorite ways to train our brains are mindful meditation, affirmations, and morning self-care rituals.
Make bite-size goals.
Don’t try to bite off more than you can chew. This is probably the biggest mistake we can make. Even with a strong mindset, working toward a big number of goals can cause you to stumble, and quickly. It’s easier for you to say "My goal is to lose 1 or 2 pounds a day," rather than saying "I need to lose 50 pounds." The latter is overwhelming! You can meet that bigger goal, but make sure you space it out with smaller milestones so that it's feasible. Take into account your lifestyle, your patience, and your willpower. Build in the holidays, birthdays, and events you care about, and then craft a schedule that you can stick to.
Make sure you write it all down on a calendar. Remember, it’s not real if it’s not written down! Decorate the calendar, create a vision board, put it somewhere you can see it every day, and place a marker on each day you complete.
Physically seeing your progress can help you stay motivated. Also, scheduling in those events and days where you may be off of your plan gives you something to look forward to. You can reward yourself for sticking to the plan and remember all of the progress you made.
Do the fitness activities you enjoy.
This is an important step! If you don’t enjoy what you are doing, you won’t stick to it. It’s as simple as that. When was the last time you stuck with something you hated that you weren’t being paid for? Right, Sooner or later you fall off the wagon. You don’t want that to happen in your fitness journey, not anymore at least. Try a few activities you like and see which one challenges you. Having an activity that challenges you just above what you think you can achieve will build a sense of accomplishment and give you something to strive to be better at.
These three little tips will put you on track to finally beat your weight loss goals and smash your perpetual, annual resolution. And once you hit one goal, it'll be a domino effect: you’ll see how you can actually change your life, one goal at a time.
