MOBILESTYLES Tips for Seasonal Skincare

MOBILESTYLES Tips for Seasonal Skincare

Each season brings different challenges for your skin — adapt your seasonal skincare routine to meet them.

Seasonal skincare is vital, especially when the weather drastically changes.

We all know that our skin is the largest organ on our bodies. A lot is happening with our skin at any given time. Did you know that our skin is home to 1,000 different species of bacteria? Skin also sheds 30,000 to 40,000 skin cells every minute!

Our skin goes through many changes in our lifetime but most of us don't think about taking care of our skin until later on in life. We're more interested in playing with lipstick and eye shadows when we're kids than wondering what the best moisturizer and cleanser would be for our type of skin. Interest in skincare piques around puberty, and even then, we're usually more interested in covering up the breakouts with foundation than treating them with the appropriate skincare product (unless you're a skincare aficionado).

The truth, though, is that our skin should be a bigger priority than makeup, because without an excellent skincare routine year-round, makeup on it won't look as amazing as it should. Skin changes with each season. A skincare routine should, too. Consider what climate you're in and adjust your seasonal skincare products accordingly.

FALL

Fall and Winter

During the fall and winter, your skin requires additional hydration thanks to the arid and dry environment. Opt for products that are creamier and hydrating to compensate for the dull weather. Choose products that have ingredients like hyaluronic acid, ceramides, shea butter, coconut oil, mango butter, honey, and snail mucin, to name a few.

You may say, "but my skin is oily!" That doesn't mean you should forego moisturizer. Even oily skin requires hydration. In fact, if you're stripping your skin of the necessary hydration, your skin will over-produce sebum to compensate for the lack of moisture, which in turn will make your skin even oilier.

Products that you should have in your arsenal are:

  • a creamy, hydrating cleanser;
  • toner to hydrate your skin;
  • a serum;
  • heavier cream to lock in moisture.
  • balloon

Spring and Summer

Your skin in the spring and summer seasons will require a different set of products to deal with the muggier, warmer months. Swap out your heavier products for lightweight gel cleansers and moisturizers. Products that will absorb quicker during these seasons won't feel heavy or greasy, which is something that you obviously want to avoid.

Incorporate products that have ingredients such as witch hazel, salicylic acid, glycolic acid, and bentonite. During the warmer months, you want to ramp up your exfoliation to reveal glowing skin. You want to exfoliate year-round, but you need to do more of it during warmer weather.

It may take some trial and error to find out which product cocktail is suitable for your skin. It's recommended to see a skincare specialist that can examine your skin and provide a tailored regimen for you.

sun

Sunscreen

One thing that is always recommended year-round is to wear sunscreen on a daily basis, no matter if you're in a cold or warm climate. Always wear an SPF of 30 or more and, if possible, apply throughout the day. There are various forms of SPF, from cream to powder, so you can use it over your makeup when necessary.
