Here Are 5 Reasons to Become a Vegetarian Today
Being a vegan is a little more than just a diet, it's a lifestyle. Here are some reasons to go vegan.
There are plenty of great reasons to go vegan!
Now more than ever, it’s so important to take care of ourselves and the Earth. The best way to do both of those things is to adopt a vegan lifestyle. Today, we’ve rounded up 5 reasons to go vegan!
1. Being vegan is better for the planet.
A major benefit of adopting a vegan lifestyle is how much better it is for the Earth. Vegan food needs less water, less land, and less energy from fossil fuels to produce. Being vegan not only saves animals (because you’re not consuming them) but it also protects the land and their natural habitats.
2. Veganism can help you lose weight.
If saving the planet isn’t enough of a push for you, how about the fact that going vegan can help you lose weight? Vegan food typically consists of more fiber than other types of food, which is a major key when it comes to weight loss. Even vegan junk food is typically made from whole grains, nuts, seeds, and fruit! Vegan food is typically higher in healthy fats, lower saturated fats, and lower in calories. And yes, vegans typically consume more vegetables than non-vegans, and it's exactly those "extra" servings of vegetables that provide their bodies with essential vitamins and health benefits (plus they’re low calorie & extremely filling!).
3. Vegans typically live longer.
A vegan diet lowers blood pressure, improves gut health, lowers the risk of heart disease and the risk of diabetes, among many other things!
4. Your skin will glow.
A vegan diet consists of lots of fruits and vegetables which are high in antioxidants and vitamins which are essential for skin health. Dairy is a major contributor when it comes to many skin issues. Since dairy isn’t a part of a vegan diet, you'll likely experience improved skin just like many others when they cut out dairy.
5. You’ll save animals (naturally).
This is pretty self-explanatory, but if you love animals, then adopting a vegan lifestyle is a no-brainer! The meat and dairy industry is incredibly cruel to animals and when we cut out the consumption of meat, dairy, and animal byproducts we can save hundreds of animals a year individually, which is a great reason to go vegan.
