What seems like an eternity is really less than half a year in quarantine. Still a long time, no doubt.

You've had to pick up extra roles and duties; you didn't have to think about pre-pandemic. No one thought that we'd all be stuck at home for more than a few weeks, at best.

Some states decided to be a little rebellious and open up early, and we all know how that went - they had to shut right back down because it was too soon to reopen the economy. Everyone wants to go back to work and get back to normal, but for the foreseeable future, we are sheltering in place to make sure that the spread of COVID-19 is lessened.

Being a mom is one of the hardest jobs there is. There's more giving involved than receiving. You have to juggle your children, partner, work, and everything in between. You deserve some time to yourself to relax and recharge without feeling guilty. Here are some ways to do that so you can continue to manage your household with grace.

Step away from your phone

I know it's hard to leave your phone unattended. We're so used to checking our notifications and watching the news, scrolling through Instagram, watching TikTok videos, and binging YouTube videos. But if you want to have a little less stress, leave your phone in another room on silent, and you'll feel relieved that you disconnected, even if it's just for a couple of hours.

Move your body

Starting an exercise routine is not easy, but it's worth it once you've gotten into the flow. Try to not overwhelm yourself with having an elaborate exercise routine. Start with an attainable goal like going for a walk 3 times a week to get some fresh air or stretching in the morning before everyone gets up.

There are so many benefits to working out, not just physically but mentally as well. Exercising has been proven to aid with stress, anxiety, and depression; feelings that many people are experiencing during this time. Exercising regularly means you're not only trimming down your waist but also boosting your mood.

Pick up a hobby

Now is the perfect time to pick up that hobby you've always wanted to start. With so many options to choose from like painting, knitting, pottery, or sketching, you're sure to find something that will get those creative juices flowing and bring you that peace and tranquility that you need right now.

Read a good book

So many genres to choose from! Submerge yourself in a true crime novel, pick up a self-help book, or a cheesy romance to transport you to another world. Reading is a great way to relax and give you the time that you need for yourself.

Spa day

Who doesn't like to go to the spa? After you put the kiddo's down to bed, you can pamper yourself without having to get up and tend to anyone but you. Light a candle, dim the lights, toss a bath bomb in the tub, pull out a sheet mask, and all your other favorite skincare products and just chill. There's no better way than to give yourself some self-love with a spa day at home. You'll go to bed super relaxed and ready to conquer the next day.

While we're all here trying to stay sane during this time, you should put yourself as a priority while doing the best to manage your family and work under quarantine. If you don't give yourself a little self-love, you'll experience major overwhelm, so set some time in your calendar to relax, recharge, and feel good about yourself.
