What No-Shave November is Actually All About

Keep reading to learn what No Shave November is actually all about and how this charity helps people around the world. Welcome to the start of November.

In the midst of Thanksgiving and Black Friday, let’s not forget another event that many participate in — No-Shave November.

One thing is for sure though, it is more than just not shaving. No Shave November is a month-long event where participants of all gender identities go without shaving or grooming for an entire month.

What is it?

One thing is for sure though, it is more than just not shaving. No-Shave November is a month-long event where participants (whether they are men or women) go without shaving or grooming for an entire month.

When Did it Start?

It began in 2009 when the Hill family decided to reinvent the month-long event to raise money for cancer and cancer awareness. This event holds a special place in the hearts of the eight Hill family children because their father passed away from colon cancer in November 2007. Since its start, the organization has been able to raise over $10 million for many cancer-fighting organizations. Even now, their goal is still the same — find a cure for cancer and bring awareness.

What is the Concept of No-Shave November?

No-Shave November is around to grow and show awareness of cancer by participants embracing their hair (which many cancer patients lose) and let it grow wild and free. Another part of the event is for participants to donate the money they saved on shaving and grooming products to organizations that are educating people about cancer prevention, saving lives, and aiding in the fight against cancer. No-Shave November is not just for us. Many celebrities like Jake Owen, Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Dan Stevens, and more have also participated and raised money for this event. It takes everyone’s help and support to spread the cause and raise money for our fight against cancer.

What are the Rules?

The rules are pretty simple: put down your razors and grooming equipment for 30 days. From November 1st to November 30th, forget shaving and let your hair grow out. Additionally, skipping the shave is to donate your monthly hair maintenance expenses to the cause. Plus, don’t forget to post on social media and use the trending hashtags to spread even more awareness.

How To Get Involved?

Getting involved is effortless — literally. The easiest way is to forego shaving. However, if you are ready to take on the next step in charity work, you can also set up your own No Shave November fundraising page. Not everyone is ready to participate completely, and that’s okay because you can still support someone on our leadership board.

Who doesn’t enjoy one less step in their grooming and hygiene routine? All it takes is one month to raise money and awareness for cancer. And, if you need help, contact one of our PROs in your area on the MOBILESTYLES App.
