How To Encourage Loved Ones to Get a Private Breast Check

How To Encourage Loved Ones to Get a Private Breast Check

Check out how to help loved ones get their yearly private breast check.

Use this time to get your breasts checked and encourage those around you to get a private breast check, as well.

During the pandemic, there were setbacks in screenings and early detection of breast cancer, according to the National Breast Cancer Association. Now’s the time to encourage your friends and family to get a private breast check!

While there’s no way to completely prevent breast cancer, finding it early can be incredibly helpful with regard to the success of treatment. That’s why it’s important for women over the age of 40 to get a breast exam once a year. The thought of getting cancer can be terrifying. Take control of the situation and get screened regularly, and encourage those around you to do the same.

If you can, please consider donating to the cause. One great charity is the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Donations go toward research, supporting women and men who are unable to pay for medical care, and breast cancer education.

Here are some helpful ways to encourage your friends, family, and members of your community to get their breasts checked this year.

Share the facts

Breast cancer statistics can be scary, but they’re also incredibly important. Without knowing the likelihood of getting breast cancer, people might feel that getting checked is unnecessary. Make sure your friends and family know the facts:

  • 270,000 people in the U.S. are expected to get diagnosed with breast cancer this year, and 2 million are expected to be diagnosed around the globe.
  • Black women are 40% more likely than white women to get diagnosed with breast cancer.
  • This year, over 42,000 people are expected to die of breast cancer in the U.S., and 600,000 are expected to die around the world.

Share these facts with your community, and urge them to schedule a breast exam.

Post on socials about your own breast exam

As silly as it may sound, sharing a post-checkup picture with the world could be what it takes to encourage your followers to prioritize their health. A caption that focuses on the importance of checkups will, at minimum, inform your followers that they should be getting checked once a year. Some people could’ve even forgotten to schedule an appointment, and your post could be the catalyst that reminds them to call their doctor.

Volunteer to tag along

Some people could be nervous to get checked. Remind them that cancer is scary, but it’s even scarier when you don’t get checked regularly. Carve some time out of your week to go with your friend or family member who needs a little extra encouragement, and grab some ice cream on the way back as a treat for the two of you.

We hope that you, your friends, and your family members are prioritizing breast health this October, and that each of you are scheduling a private breast check. Share your post-exam selfie with us by tagging @mobilestylesapp on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter.
